American Horror Story Finale 1.12 - Afterbirth = What the shit?!

The American Horror Story finale was beyond bizarre and wasn't at all what i expected. It started with Ben trying to kill himself to be relieved by his dead wife and daughter.  Only to be hung, suicide style, by Hayden and her ghost thugs.  It was certainly a quick out for Ben but maybe too quick?  He was the star of the show.  He is then reunited with his family forever in the Muder House.. Somebody better knock this house down already.

I felt the first half of the episode worked very well. I had a feeling Ben was going to die someway. Either by his own hand or a ghosts.  But i think i was expecting it to come much later.  Good emotions with the family and him apologizing.  The opening scene shows Ben trying to convey his wife in Boston to move to the Murder House we can assume not long after Viv caught him having an affair. He feels that they were meant to go there.  After a long speech about "letting go" and "climbing over the wall" we can only assume that Viv decides to see the house.  The thing i dont get is that Ben talks to Viv as if like they only lost a baby.. He fucking cheated on her in his own house, in their own bed, while she was pregnant. Thats pretty fucking heavy.  And while she is crying about it he is trying to patch things up by moving into his "dream" house.  hahahahah.. what an ass.  He should have been killed a long time ago.. Not Viv and Violet.

Constance gets another visit from the police after the 16th person just suddenly died in the next door house. And of course the cops just allow Constance to walk free.. again!  I mean seriously.  The LA police depratment SUCKS..as does home security.  Constance tells the cops she was the one who saw Ben dead hanging from the chandelier and that the baby and Violet are missing.  Most likely Violet ran away with the baby.  Once the cops leave we see Constance with what appears to be a 3 month old instead of a 2 day old  hiding out in the mirror closet.

Viv and Moira are chillaxing in their kitchen chatting about Ben's infidelities when Ben walks in.  It is clear now that Viv is cool that she is dead but still doesnt know how it works.  Can Ben see her?  No says Moira. You have to want him too.  Moira then explains to Viv that there are good spirits in the house who have died unintentional deaths and then there are bad spirits who very evil to begin with. The evil spirits want to do bad and the good spirits good. I am sensing an epic ghost war perhaps for season 2 like in Return of the King!!?

Then the middle part of the show was just bizarre and in some scenes embarrassingly funny.  There is a very dramatic scene between Tate and Ben where Tate finally says out loud what he has done. This is the first time he actually admits killing those kids and raping Ben's wife and everything else this punk has done. Will there be a father/son relationship brewing?  After all.. in a way they are the same person.  We shall see but i highly doubt it. Violet has stated that she wants nothing to do with Tate anymore.

Good Will Hunting certainly would have ended differently if there was an American Horror Story scenario taking place.

A new family moves into the house and unlike the couple in Beetlejuice the Harmons are successfull at scaring the living shit out of the new family their first night in the new house causing them to leave immediately for good.  Holy shit.. if i ever woke up to the shit that was going on in that house i would just fall on the floor and die.  There were fucking spirits everywhere.. cut up.. bloody.. monsters coming out of the attic..fat dead girls in tubs.. it was AWFUL. The Harmon's couldnt have planned this any better.  Good ghosts 1.  Bad

During this sequence we sorta see what happened to the Harmon's during their first night there.  Ben sorta sleepwalks down to the kitchen and turns the stove on.. or was it the fireplace.. i dont recall. Meanwhile Viv is getting schooled by Tate, rubber man style.  The same happens to the new family.  Instead this time Ben tries the suit on. Immediately... as it should happen.. the wife freaks the fuck out and Ben gets his ass handed to him by a latina.  Her hubby is downstairs playing with fire and being coaxed by the bad spirit, Larry's wife,  on one shoulder and the good spirit, Viv, on the other. The good spirit wins and Miguel finally "wakes up" realizing that shit is not right.  Good ghosts 2 Bad ghosts 0.

Tate is devastated by Violet not wanting to have anything to do with anymore and gets extremely jealous when Violet just appears out of nowhere in the new kids room.  The new kid, Gabe, sorta is ok with a strange girl in his room playing with his CDs.. waht the fuck is it with people on this show.  Tate witnesses this and during the Harmon's scare fest on Miguel and his family, Tate decides to pay the son a visit.  In a very bad attempt to kill the teenage son for reasons i have no idea why, Violet comes and saves his life with a kiss to Tate allowing the new kid to escape.  I think Tate is going legit. He cant kill anymore.. WTF.. Tate is boring as legit!

Seriously.. they should have just done it in front of the realtor.. 

Viv is reunited with her "still born" child when she hears crying in teh basement. To her surprise she sees a very moody Nora shouting insults and complaints about the non-stop crying baby.  Viv offers to help and give Nora a rest.  Immediately teh baby stops crying when ghost-mother-of-the-year Viv cradles the baby in her arms and sings to it.

The worst part of the entire series happened not too long after when there is this Star Wars-esque Christmas special happening where the Harmon's are decorating a Christmas tree with smiles on their faces.  Oh.. i forgot to mention the part just before where Viv shows Moira her baby and asks her to be the ghost-godmother. First off.. they are dead.. there is no god if you are trapped in a house dead. What the shit was that.  Flashforward back to the tree lighting ceremony.  The family including Moira are all standing aroudn the tree when Ben lights it. Of course it looks perfect. I asked myself 6 times.. where the fuck did they get a tree and then Ben finally says.. i chopped it down myself. But where?? I thought you cant leave the house. It just so happens there are small pines growing in your yard?  WTF??  Tate and his new demon BFF Hayden watch in the window like 2 homeless kids looking in.  Tate says that he will continue to get back Violet if it takes forever. .Oh great.. please dont drag this into Season 2.

Merry Christmas from the Harmon's

The most memorable part of the night for me was the final few minutes of the show.  We have Constance going to the salon to get herself "redone".  After a hair makeover Constance goes on to tell her stylist about her son.  Now whoever knows will know that i am a dork when it comes to the way a shot is done and i thought this was excellent.  In 1 very long take we see a very moving Jessica Lange go from happy to sad as she talks about her son and how she meant to raise this baby.  Ive gone on and on about how much i love this character and that Jessica should be nominated for an emmy. Well she just nominated for the SAG and Golden Globe so there is definetley potential. Regardless she is by far my favorite on teh show. Soo mysterious and evil. I love her.  k.. back to my cheesiness.. so the final minutes we see Constance go back to her house to discover a trail of blood leading to the baby's bedroom.  Her stolen son Michael is seen rocking in a chair with a big smile on his face and blood on his hands and mouth.  We see the dead nanny on the ground in front of him.  Contantance goes to him and says "now what am i going to do with you".  Fucking great ending!!

Now that the Harmons are dead what will season 2 bring.  I assume that the demon baby Michael is going to be a HUGE role in the next season. Im wondering if the Harmon's will just play minor roles or be the central characters as they were this season.

Having read some interviews with the writers and the creator, the death of the Harmons was planned from the start.  What show kills off its main characters in teh first season. GENIUS in my opinion.  I love how they stuck with their guns.. pun intended.. and didnt try to chagne things up just to get ratings or an extra season.  Bravo.

The creator states that there are tons of clues to indicate that people were dead all along. Like no reflection in mirrors and the same clothes being worn. There are tons of easter eggs as well. Like Hayden wearing Violet's clothes i am assuming to feel like she belongs in some way. I certainly will not buy the DVD but will definetely be reading up on it in the months to come.

Hayden's bruises are getting deeper and covering more of her body.. Why?  Apparently this is not an accident in the makeup department but intended.. but why?  Is she dying in some weird way?

I thought the scene where the new owners decide to just fuck right there in the kitchen with their teenage hormone-driven son upstairs was stupid. They couldnt let the kid leave to explore the neighborhood and then do it.  It was almost like the house put a spell on them saying "have a baby.. NOW".

I get the reunion of the Harmon's but i didnt find the Christmas tree uplifting in anyway.  We were forced to HATE Ben from the very start.  We never saw this family united so why would i be happy when they finally unite when they are dead.  The scene where Viv and Ben "kill" each other in front of the new owners was very funny.. in a good way.

I liked how Ben was killed off very quickly. This worked nicely instaed of waiting till the very end.  Although i sure hope that the new season will not consist of the Harmon's trying to scare potential new buyers.  This will turn into a comedy.

The conversation between Moira and Viv about allowing Ben to see her only if she wants is another let down in the scare department.  I feel that now that everyone is dead and we can see them just chilling in teh background, the scares really are no longer there. I feel that this will turn more into a mystery/horror show instead of an all out scare fest.  All the secrets are gone. We know who is a ghost and why. We know that they can be seen when they went to be and we know that saying "go away" will do just that. Sorta defeats the purpose of being scary if that makes any sense

I loved the scare fest from all the "good" spirits in the house.  A couple posts back i tried to figure out all the ghosts in teh house. I definetely missed a few. It was great that they were able to do that and make it work.

and finally... THE DOG RETURNS!!!!!! and now is adopted by the realtor.. !! ! HOLY SHIT WE HAVE AN ANSWER ON THE DOG FINALLY!!!!!
